Precautions for daily inspection of air compressors
During the manufacturing and installation process of air compressors and storage tanks, as special equipment, daily management must be carried out in accordance with relevant national and departmental safety management inspection regulations. In recent years, safety accidents caused by air compressor explosions have occurred frequently, which has put high demands on safety management work. All levels of management departments, including government supervision departments, production and manufacturing processes, equipment installation and commissioning, and end use departments, require safety principles. Starting from a people-centered approach, focusing on safety work, solidly carrying out safety management work, fulfilling the responsibilities of departments at all levels, implementing the safety production responsibility system, and ensuring the safety of people's lives. So, how to effectively achieve security requires departments at all levels to think and explore the path of security protection. This article proposes several insights from the requirements of special equipment safety management for everyone to learn and explore.
1、 Basic provisions for safety inspection of special equipment
When special equipment for gas storage tanks and pressure vessels leaves the factory, they need to have accompanying accessories, design documents required by safety technical specifications, quality certificates, safety use and maintenance certificates, supervision and inspection certificates, and other documents. The construction unit responsible for installation, renovation, and maintenance should transfer relevant technical information to the user unit within 30 days after acceptance.
2、 Safety regulations for the use of special equipment
1. Registration of use: Before and within 30 days after the use of special equipment, the user shall register with the special equipment safety supervision and management department of the municipality or community directly under the central government.
2. Safety technical archives for special equipment: design documents, manufacturing units, product quality certificates, usage and maintenance instructions, as well as installation technical documents and materials for special equipment. Records of regular inspections and self inspections of special equipment. Daily usage records of special equipment. Daily maintenance records of special equipment and its safety accessories, safety protection devices, measurement and control devices, and related auxiliary instruments. Special equipment operation faults and accident records. Energy efficiency test report, energy consumption status record, and energy-saving renovation technology data for high energy consuming special equipment.
3. Maintenance and upkeep of special equipment: Special equipment users should conduct self inspections and keep records of the special equipment in use at least once a month.
4. Regular inspection and testing: The user shall, in accordance with the regular inspection requirements of safety technical specifications, submit a regular inspection request to the special equipment inspection and testing institution one month before the qualified validity period, and conduct safety performance inspection and energy efficiency testing.
5. Scrap: If special equipment has serious accident hazards, no value for renovation or maintenance, or exceeds the service life specified in safety technical specifications, the special equipment user shall promptly scrap it and apply for cancellation with the original registered special equipment safety supervision and management department.
6. The qualifications for special equipment inspection and testing, supervision inspection, regular inspection, type testing, and non-destructive testing should be recognized and submitted to the quality and technical supervision department.
3、 Three level education for personnel entering the factory with special equipment for gas storage tanks
Provide safety training and education to the factory (mine), workshop (section, area, team), and team levels, and provide safety training to specific employees of special equipment to ensure that they possess knowledge and skills in safe operation, emergency response, and other aspects of their positions,
1. Factory (mine) level safety training content:
A. Basic knowledge of production.
B. Production regulations and labor discipline.
C. Personnel safety production rights and obligations.
D. Emergency response plan drills and preventive measures for accident cases and other incidents.
2. Pre job safety training content for workshops (sections, zones, teams):
A. Work environment and risk factors,
B. Occupational injuries and accidents that may occur to air compressor operators.
C. The safety responsibilities, operational skills, and mandatory standards of the air compressor operators engaged in.
D. Self rescue and mutual aid, first aid methods, evacuation, and handling of emergency situations on site.
E. The use and maintenance of safety equipment and personal protective equipment.
F. Workshop safety production status and regulations.
G. Measures to prevent accidents and occupational hazards, as well as safety precautions to be taken.
H. In recent years, there have been cases of safety accidents related to air compressor equipment.
3. Team level pre job safety training content:
A. Job safety operation procedures.
B. Safety and occupational health issues related to the coordination and integration of work between positions.
C. There are safety cases related to accidents and injuries that have occurred in this position in the past.
D. Other content that requires training, such as the occupational hazards and types present in this position, the distribution of special equipment, and personal protective equipment and other items that should be equipped.
4、 Safety precautions for daily operation and maintenance of air compressors
Compressed air and electricity are both dangerous. Maintenance or upkeep can only be carried out on the unit after ensuring that the power has been cut off and the compressed air in the entire compressor system has been emptied. Safety precautions: Before starting, turn on the compressor for a very short period of time (about 1 second), check the rotation direction, and ensure that the rotation direction of the air compressor is correct, otherwise it may cause damage to the screw components of the air compressor in just a few seconds.
Before starting the unit, it is necessary to ensure that all joints and accessories are securely locked.
During the operation of the unit, do not loosen and remove any pipeline accessories, joints, and components. The unit is filled with high-pressure and high-temperature liquids and gases, which can cause serious personal injury accidents.
4. Safety devices such as air switches and fuses must be installed on the power supply line of the compressor. To ensure the reliability of electrical equipment, it is necessary to follow relevant safety regulations, connect a suitable grounding wire, and leave necessary maintenance space around the compressor equipment.
5. The compressor cannot operate at a discharge pressure higher than the nameplate specified, otherwise the motor will overload, resulting in the compressor shutting down.
Only safe solutions can be used to clean compressors and auxiliary equipment.
7. The safety valve is installed on the base of the oil fine separator. Once the gas pressure in the system exceeds the rated pressure, it will be released through this valve. At the same time, it is necessary to check the cause of the overpressure.
Before performing any mechanical maintenance on the compressor, the following preparations must be made:; (1) Unit shutdown (2): Cut off the power and manually disconnect the switch to ensure that the compressor is in a power-off state. (3) Ensure that the compressed air in the unit has been emptied.
9. Compressed air, as a hazardous source, requires maintenance and cleaning of pneumatic equipment or in places where compressed air is used. Necessary locking, tagging, isolation, and emptying measures must be implemented, such as when entering transfer tanks, fermentation tanks, and other internal maintenance or cleaning situations.
10. Compressed air is very powerful, relying on its pressure, it can wash away small particles of dust. But these dust particles are a source of danger, they can rush into people's eyes or scraped skin. The possible degree of damage depends on the size, weight, shape, composition, and velocity of these blown particles. There have been reports about hearing damage caused by high decibel sounds from compressed air and airflow.
11. It is prohibited to use compressed air directly to blow any part of the human body at any time.
In short, the goal of safe operation of air compressors and storage tanks can be achieved through a high degree of unity in people, objects, and systems. We need to strengthen management work from the aspects of guiding the system with ideas, cultivating behavior, and ensuring a safe environment system, so as to fundamentally achieve safe production, enable enterprises to develop healthily, and promote social progress.
